What to Expect

Every patient is unique, and so is your health history, diagnosis, and personal goals. When you step into Empower for your first appointment, we embark on a journey tailored just for you — a personalized treatment plan designed to empower you on your path to wellness.

When to Arrive for Physical Therapy

Your initial visit will be 40 minutes. We kindly ask you have your paperwork completed prior and to arrive 15 minutes early for processing.

What to Bring for Physical Therapy

On your first visit, please bring:

• Physician referral or prescription (Kansas has direct access, meaning you do not need a referral to see a physical therapist; However Medicare requires a physician referral.)
• Insurance card
• Completed registration forms (we recommend you email them to info@empowerptkc.com prior)
• ID or driver’s license
• Co-payment (if applicable)
• Change of clothing (if desired)

How Physical Therapy Works

During your first visit, your dedicated physical therapist will conduct an initial evaluation and discuss your personalized plan of care. This sets the stage for goals focused on improving movement, strength, endurance, flexibility, and reducing pain. Your subsequent visits will align with your diagnosis and individualized goals, ensuring a targeted and effective treatment approach.

Attendance Policy

A $50 fee will be applied for cancellations or no-shows within a 24-hour period. Exceptions can be considered in case of illness, attendance of a funeral, weather, etc.; please contact us to reschedule your appointment, ensuring the safety of our staff and fellow patients.

Insurance & Billing

We work with many insurance providers and strive to make the paperwork pain-free. If you have insurance coverage questions, let us know, and we will verify it when you schedule.

Regarding co-pays and deductible payments, we accept payments through credit cards (with a 3% processing fee), exact cash, or checks.
